⌨ DECtalk Phoneme Translator v1.1c
Text-to-Speech Phoneme Converter with Singing Sequencer
📖 How it works:
Text Analysis & Conversion:
🎵 Singing Sequencer (Right Panel):
📤 Send to DECtalk:
Interactive Features:
Your text is analyzed using one of two engines, then converted to ARPABET phonemes that match DECtalk's phoneme table:
- IPA (CMU Dictionary) — Loads the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary directly from GitHub (~130,000 English words). Converts ARPABET phonemes to IPA. Good coverage for standard English vocabulary.
- NGSpeak (Higher Fidelity) — Loads the eSpeak-NG speech synthesis engine from CDN. More accurate pronunciation with proper stress patterns, handles most English words including names and unusual words.
🎵 Singing Sequencer (Right Panel):
- Duration — How long each phoneme is held (50-1000ms, default: 100ms)
- Pitch — Frequency for each phoneme (65-880 Hz)
- Pitch values display the closest musical note (C3, A4, etc.)
- Use Reset All to restore default values
📤 Send to DECtalk:
- Editable field — The "Phonemes with duration & pitch" field is editable. Change duration/pitch values directly and sliders update automatically.
- Press Space — Send timed phonemes instantly (when not typing in a text field). Great for live tweaking!
Interactive Features:
- Vowels (orange) — Click the arrow to change the vowel sound
- Consonants (teal) — Fixed consonant sounds
- Special (purple) — Silence and stress markers
